Jamboree participant from 2nd Goffs Oak

As a Group we are so proud to have one of our Young Leaders selected as only one of 72 young people in Hertfordshire selected to attend the next World Scout Jamboree in 2027. They will be representing Hertfordshire and split into two units. 

Thomas, who helps out at Beavers and Scouts on a weekly basis and was previously a Beaver, Cub and Scout at 2nd Goffs Oak. He is also now an explorer at Agillis Explorer Scouts in Broxbourne. 

After a rigorous selection weekend at Tolmers Scout Campsite in Cuffley in October, Thomas placed highly out of the 200+ Scouts, Young Leaders and Explorers who applied, and was granted one of the 72 highly sought after places. 

In addition to being selected to represent Hertfordshire Scouts, he is the first ever Scout from 2nd Goffs Oak Scout group to attend any World Scout Jamboree as a contingent participant. He is also proud to now be the only young person representing East Herts District Scouts in the Hertfordshire contingent units. 

Thomas is now on a once in a lifetime experience and journey to the jamboree in 2027. Thomas is fundraising for his contingent fees which as the UK is in the highest fee country, enables a portion of his fees to go help Scouts from less financially able countries attend the Jamboree. 

He is looking forward to fundraising events and opportunities between now and when the contingents leave for Poland in July 2027. There are several ways people can support Thomas such as Goffs Oak Village day (13th June 2026), quiz night (20th June 2026), attending fetes and fairs as well as sponsorship opportunities.
